Civil rights hero and US Congressman John Lewis (D-GA) is a superdelegate in this year’s Democratic National Convention.
He marched alongside Dr. King, so it seems like Barack Obama would be his obvious choice for president.
His votes were pledged to Hillary, since they are longtime friends, but because of all he’s hearing from his constituents and the nation, he announced his endorsement of Barack yesterday.
He said the decision to pull his support from the Clintons was more difficult than crossing the bridge to Selma where he was beaten then imprisoned.
I’ll take his word for it, and I always have admired his courage. If he had held his guns and backed Hillary Clinton, I would have the same opinion of him, because it takes a strong conviction for someone in his position not to support the black guy.
